If that brings down a nation with it, that's on them. But, they need to be held accountable. ---dabe Uhhh...don't forget, dabe. It's your country, too. The above quote and reply pairing came from a post I made over on Modman's thread "The Left just does not get it." I've heard this kind of quote quite a few times from people on the Left, and I really have to wonder if they realize what they're saying. "If it brings down a nation, that'll be on them." No, it'll be on all of us, i...
Sheehan Arrested During Anti-War Protest By JENNIFER C. KERR WASHINGTON (AP) - Cindy Sheehan, the California woman who has used her son's death in Iraq to spur the anti-war movement, was arrested Monday while protesting outside the White House. Sheehan and several dozen other protesters sat down on the sidewalk after marching along the pedestrian walkway on Pennsylvania Avenue. Police warned them three times that they were breaking the law by failing to move along, then began making...
Something has been bothering me for a while now; years, in fact. Years ago, I saw a picture of an Ethiopian woman, sick and dying, lying on a thin mattress in a refugee camp. Her face was covered with flies. Pitiful. Terrible. The suffering. All I kept thinking, though, was, "did the photographer at least try to shoo away the flies?" After humiliating that poor, wretched woman in the name of getting a good picture, a picture that he was no doubt well paid for? Did he? An unanswer...
From what I was able to gather (my wife turned the TV on in the middle of the story) from a report on the "Today" Show, there is an island of the coast of Galveston where quite a few of the poorer residents are having to sit out the storm. Seems they have little money to get away, or no vehicles. Sound familiar? The people interviewed there were white, though. I wonder...will this cause the same great wailing and gnashing of teeth and chest-thumping that the poor blacks in New Orleans did? ...
The wife and I went to a Chinese buffet place for lunch today; good food there, and a lot of it for your money. That's why I love buffets. I saw something while there though, that just annoys the crap out of me. I know, I'm intolerant, I'm a racist, whatever, but I saw two white, American people, a man and a woman, eating with chopsticks. Now, I'm not sure exactly why this annoys me, but it does. I guess I just looks a little pretentious to me, maybe. Like they're saying "look what I ca...
I recently went to a flea market in St. Clairsville, OH, and came home with quite a find, at least for me. I've been a collector of Star Trek items and memorabilia for some time, and I found three of the old Power Records Book & Record sets; 2 45s and one 33 with two stories, each dated 1975. Only paid 12 bucks for all three, after a little haggling, and all are in great shape; hardly any scratches on the records. The books are spotless, if a little creased here and there with age, of course. ...

I was readin in "The Nation" last night that the Blair government is thinking of scrapping he national "Holocaust Memorial Day" because offended Muslims feel excluded. It seems that they feel as if their history and its travails are not as strongly appreciated as those of the Jews, and this causes them emotional distress. So, the British government is thinking of changing the Holocaust Memorial Day to a more generic and simple "Genocide Remembrance Day". This because, of course, in a social...

The Rev. Jessup Jackson mounted the altar at the head of his entourage, which spread out behind him, and, with grave face, took his place behind the pulpit. Always a man of his people, he wore a $7,000 Armani suit; his shirt and shoes both cost more than most of these people made in a year, but his tie was cheap…he’d bought it at a Saks in Los Angeles for a mere $450.00. It wasn’t even on sale at that price! What a buy! It cost almost as much as his haircut. His eyes swept across the sm...
A long-standing friendship of mine sadly appears to be ending. I’ve been friends with this person for over 20 years; we met in High School, became good friends (she was like the sister I never had), and, despite our best efforts, eventually drifted apart after graduation separated us, as frequently happens. Years later, thanks to the Net, we reconnected and caught up with Old Times. We stayed in touch via the Net. Almost two years ago, work took my wife and myself to Fort Wayne, Indiana, wh...
I see nothing wrong with Believers, working in and for a government based on free choice, invoking the aid of a deity in day-to-day dealings. What's so wrong with asking Divine guidance for help in our affairs of state? Some of you are so afaid of us becoming theocracy; that's crap and you know it. This nation existed for 186 years before the church-state debate really got going in the early 1960s. In fact, we resisted putting a Catholic in the Oval Office, because Papal influence was so...
A transcript taken from www.rushlimbuagh.com: RUSH: This is one of those stories you find and say: Okay, glad I have a radio show tomorrow. "Amid the chaos and confusion that engulfed New Orleans after..." This is an ABC story, by the way. "Amid the chaos and confusion that engulfed New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina struck, a congressman used National Guard troops to check on his property and rescue his personal belongings — even while New Orleans residents were trying to get rescued from...
