A little less than a year ago, my wife and I moved to a new city. This meant that we left the wonderful, large, 3-bedroom house we lived in back home for a miniscule, 1-bedroom apt. where there's almost enough air for both of us to breathe at the same time. This meant, in turn, that the nice, big, full 7-foot Christmas tree we always stood in our picture window that faced the street was left in storage, and substituted this year with a pissy little 4-foot Charlie Brown-like tree we purchased ...

I have known quite a few homosexuals in my life, having worked with some, and just having known others as friends. Homosexuality itself is not something I support per se, but they're the ones who are going to have to stand before the Throne and answer for their activities, not me. Through this association, I have acquired what is colloquially known as a "gaydar"....that is, for those who don't know the term, I can often identify gays and lesbians, having just met them and with no other knowle...

Here we are again at the "Most Wonderful Time of the Year".......the endless, goofy holiday-themed commercials full of false good cheer, the endless lines at the mall or dept. stores, and the endless repetition of the same old songs, over and over and over...only in different voices and (with luck) arrangements. Ho Ho Ho. MERRRY CHRISTMAAAAS!! The endless Christmas specials, so many repeated year after year. The endless parties, where people meet and greet, again with the false cheer, eat ...

My wife just adores Clay Aiken. She has all his CDs, has seen him in concert when he came to town, and reads and watches anything she can about him or with him. He's okay...has a very nice voice and good stage presence, seems intelligent and to have a good sense of humor, and he's definately outsdistanced all his other American Idols. He's put Kelly Clarkson off the map. Justin who? Reuben what? The only other one you hear about is Fantasia Barrino, and that's because she's still fairly new. ...

Some time ago, I wrote an article extolling the virtues of the Toys for Tots charity drive, and asking all who read it to be sure to donate to this wonderful cause. While I still believe in it and ask you to donate to TfTs this Christmas season, I just want to give you this little update: I quit my job at Dollar Tree, having gotten a "real" job with the local large entertainment venue, the Veteran's Memorial Coliseum. Pays better and all that; also, no drunk managers......anyway, I stopped ...

I have a rep as a joke-teller, but haven't been hearing many good jokes lately. Anybody got some good ones? Here's one my neighbor told me today.... These two rednecks are sitting at the counter in a diner, having some lunch. All of a sudden this lady in the corner booth starts choking. One redneck jumps up and runs over to her. "Lady, can ya breathe?" he yells. She shakes her head. "Can ya swaller yer food?" Again, she shakes her head. With that, he turns her around, throws her skirt ...

This really happened....I swear on the memories of both my parents and on the life of my son that I did not make any of this up. I don't remember EXACT wording, of course, but the general gist will be clear. I recently started a new job, and was killing my break time with some fellow non-smoking co-workers gathered by the Pepsi machine. Two of them were blacks, and I mentioned that my wife and I were new to the area. One of the blacks asked me how we liked it; I replied that we liked it ver...

Yes, the Holidays are coming, but I personally think that, within 50 years or so, we'll be getting ready for Christmas all year long. I mean, if they keep pushing it back any more, we'll soon be buying Christmas decorations on July fourth. Big Lots had a few things out in August, for cryin' out loud. Stores here had whole aisles of Christmas stuff out a week or two before Halloween. I think it's a shame. The day we celebrate as Jesus' birthday has been turned into a consumer's feeding fr...

I'm wondering about something here just lately.....ever since Star Wars: Episode 2 came out, I've been hearing about this "silver leg" that C3PO has "always" had. See, as a 37 year old, I can proudly claim to be one of the ORIGINAL Star Wars fans. Three times (much to the ire of my dad, who couldn't understand why I'd want to pay to see the same movie three times) in the summer of 1977, I eagerly plopped down my $1.50 for a matinee, $4.00 for a pop and some popcorn and hunkered down in my s...

Last summer, the liberal Left seized on a movie entitled "The Day After Tomorrow"(which always sounded like a James Bond title to me), in which the effects of global warming caused rampant destruction all over the world. They saw this, it would seem to me, as this generation's "1984" as a story predicting terrible things in the future if events continue unaltered. Friends, I'm here to tell you: Global Warming is a fraud, being perpetrated on us by elements of the Left who would love to ...

If there's one thing that alarms me more than seeing little kids running wild, unattended or unable to be controlled by the parents, it is children over two years old still using a binky. The other day, I was in line at the grocery store, and there was a woman ahead of me, conversing openly with her daughter, seated in the basket's kiddie seat, legs dangling almost to her mother's knees. The child was using a binky. Now, I'm no pediatrician or child care specialist (I'm just a parent..heh...

Hey, folks......the holidays are fast approaching, and as well all know, we'll soon be seeing the red kettles and hearing bells on every corner and outside every store. While the Salvation Army is always a great charity to give your spare change to, I'd like to promote another: Toys for Tots. Every kid deserves something from Santa at Christmas. The US Marine Corps, and many retail stores, are once more joining together in an attempt to make this possible. I work for Dollar Tree, ...

I was at Wal-mart today, sulkily following behind my wife on one of her quests to find the Holy Sale. As we made our way around the store, I noted a display of Halloween makeup on the main aisle. As I looked through the packs of various types of makeup (Frankenstein monster, vampire, zombie, witch, rock star...etc), I further noted that on each package was a picture of a made-up model, showing what the makeup would look like when you finished with it. Now, from personal experience, I can...

As I've related before, I work with the public. I manage a restaurant in the evenings, but in the mornings, two or three days a week, I work at a dollar store. I had an Hispanic gentleman come up to my register today. He plunked down his three items. I said "Hi..how you doin'?" Nothing. Not even eye contact. I rang him up, gave him his total, took his money (which he counted quite well for himself, thank you), and handed him his bag. "Have a good one," I said. Again, nothing.....then, he ...
