A place for me to pour out my rants without clogging the inboxes of my friends and family. Also a place to give info on myself and Mary, our family news and events.

Hey, folks......the holidays are fast approaching, and as well all know, we'll soon be seeing the red kettles and hearing bells on every corner and outside every store.

While the Salvation Army is always a great charity to give your spare change to, I'd like to promote another: Toys for Tots.

Every kid deserves something from Santa at Christmas. The US Marine Corps, and many retail stores, are once more joining together in an attempt to make this possible.

I work for Dollar Tree, and every DT store is an official drop-off and pick-up site for TfTs. We also have donation jars, for those who choose to donate that way.
Please, if you don't usually buy for TfTs, do so this year. Every child gets one "big" toy and two stocking stuffers. The more gifts are donated, the more gifts can be given.....remember that.
Remember, too, that all toys collected in a given area are donated only to the poor and deserving of that area. They are not sent away to other cities or countries.

So...even if you've never bought for TfTs before, now's as good a time as any to start. It's a worthy cause.

Thanks for sharing this.

I have always loved to give to the Salvation Army's angel tree, but I have also done Toys for Tots a few years as well. They are both terrific causes, and it's always fun to shop and find something special for a needy child. I try to involve my children as well so that they learn from a young age the joy of giving and the importance of caring for those who are less fortunate.

Great idea, rightwinger.
