From what I was able to gather (my wife turned the TV on in the middle of the story) from a report on the "Today" Show, there is an island of the coast of Galveston where quite a few of the poorer residents are having to sit out the storm. Hamas' leadership has declared itself the victor in the recent clash, pointing out that, despite Israel's more successful attacks and the resulting body count, they failed to acheive their goals. They said that historians for generations to come will long be writing of this great victory. I work two jobs; 3 evenings a week, I work 5 hours at a Dollar General. On the counter beside the registers are boxes of those "ribbon" magnets..... red, white and blue, star-bedecked "God Bless America", "Pray for our troops", etc. Also in the box, in the interest of fairness perhaps, are ones (mainly) for those who don't support the current trend toward patriotic militarism These are plain, bland, baby-blue magnets which read "Bring our troops home safely". Actor Richard Belzer, Det. John Munch of NBC's "Law and Order--SVU" seems to know more about the war in Iraq than the young men fighting it. See the link for details.
