The Diversity Gestapo's advice on how to make you like each other.....or else!

I came across this in a magazine at work.

A study conducted in 2002, and published in the American Journal of Sociology, found that:

"A racially diverse student body in US high schools does not automatically lead to interracial friendships(duh). Researchers found that teens tended to choose same-race friends, even as chances to choose friends from different races increased. The study suggested that schools interested in promoting substantive racial integration should encourage activities that bind students of different races."

The Diversity Police can't even let people choose their own friends, for God's sake!

"You MUST be racially diverse! There is no other way! We'll show you how to force them to assimilate!"

What is the matter with these people?

Now, I loved that last line: "should encourage activities that bind students of different races".

Well, I mean.....what kinds of activities would they prefer?
Maybe things like sports, band, choir or some sorts of clubs would do it.....oh, but wait! Those things have been around forever and haven't done anything to "bind" students interracially.
What more would they like us to do? Sit in a gym, held at gunpoint, maybe? I've always heard it said that people who share a stressful or life-threatening experience often bond for life.
How about banning race-exclusive student clubs? Ones that are based on race specificity; you know, like groups that focus on blacks or hispanics? In my high school days it was "Power of Youth"---all blacks and blacks only; not one white, yellow, brown or red in sight. Yeah; ban them. That might promote some diversity.

Know what really yanks my chain about this, though? The fact that they actually spent money---maybe even taxpayer's money---to find out something that anyone with any common sense knows anyway. How stupid is that?

Do you know how often common sense is wrong? Anyway, now there's evidence to suggest that the common sense idea is right, which adds the weight of reason to mere opinion.
