Yes, tomorrow I face the big 3-8....actually at about 2-something AM EST, but who wants to quibble?
The wife bought me a DVD Saturday evening, "The Godfather", but gave me strict orders at the time that I'm not able to watch it until after tomorrow.
Nothing going on, really....I'm out of work at the moment, so there's no money for a night on the town. Sunday, we might get some friends together and go to "Crickster's", a local 50s-retro diner done up in Elvis and Rock-n-Roll stuff, that serves really great food and ice cream. That's about it.
As I think about it, though....I've seen quite a bit of history happen in just 38 years, whether I was aware of it at the time or not. The Tet Offensive happened when I was five months old.....I was almost two when we stepped onto the moon.....I was probably four or five when terrorists murdered the Isreali athletes in Munich....six when Nixon left the White House over Watergate.....seven when Saigon fell.....eight when we celebrated the Bicentennial summer---wrecked on my bike in front of hundreds of people during the local parade(LOL).....nine when "Star Wars" changed the movies.....eleven or twelve when the Iranians seized the American Embassy in Tehran....thirteen when Ronald Reagan was sworn in and saved America from itself and the liberals (thank God)....I was either thirteen or fourteen when he was shot, because I remember I was in Mr. Doyle's science class in Jr. High when the principal, Mr. Innocenti, came over the loudspeaker and told us.....I was eighteen when we mourned the loss of the Challenger space shuttle, and celebrated the centennial of the Statue of Liberty....I was twenty when "Star Trek: The Next Generation" premiered....I was 23 when Saddam entrenched his forces in Kuwait and suffered the consequecnces....24 when Anita Hill tried to assassinate the character of Clarence Thomas, and failed....that's enough reminiscing for now. I'm depressing myself.+LOL+
A lot good, a lot bad. Hopefully the next 38 will be all good.
