I hate the packing and loading, but it'll be nice to get back there.
About a year and a half ago, my (soon-to-be) wife and I packed up and moved to Fort Wayne, IN from Weirton, WV; she'd gotten a job out here that looked good and offered an opportunity for advancement within a large, established mortgage company. As I was kind of out of a (good) job, and had nothing better on the horizion, we decided to make the move. We moved up our wedding from Sept. 2004 to December 2003, threw the whole thing together in 3 weeks (try that sometime), and packed up the house (3 bedrooms...much of the furniture and overall "stuff" we had we donated to a local church which gave it all free to the needy). We threw everything in a Ryder moving truck and hauled ass to Indiana.
Though we liked it here, the job didn't turn out to be what they'd promised, for various reasons, bad management being the main problem, actually, and she at last quit and found another job...in Pittsburgh, PA.
So, it was decided that we'd eventually move back altogether...she left here in April to stay with her mom, and I stayed (having finally found a good job after a year of looking) to save some money so we could buy a house. So, I've been living here by myself (except for the dog) for the last nearly three months, and she's managed to make the trip back out here only three times.
During the last visit, it was decided that I'd stay out here indefinitely and we'd save money until we could have nice down-payment for a house.
But, we missed each more than we thought we would. Surprise, surprise.
I reanted a car and drove home three weekends ago, to attend a graduation party, and fell ass-backwards into a great job; same money I'm making now, but all the overtime I want.
Quite by accident, she'd found us a beautiful house, a rental, but it's out in the country, on a hilltop with a great view and lots of ground...and surprisingly affordable. I'm going home. This weekend. The house is packed up, she's coming in tonight (which is also my last night at my job...which I'll actually be kind of sad to leave...I've made some good friends there in the last couple months I've been there).
We've decided that Fort Wayne is going to be our "getaway" town....if we want to go somehwere for the weekend, this is where we'll come. It's 6-hour trip, but the hotels are reasonable and there's lots to do. I'd recommend Fort Wayne to anyone who wanted to visit of move here.
We pick the truck up tomorrow morning at eleven, and hope to be home by sometime Sunday morning. A chapter closes and another one opens. I'm hopeful.
