Friends and Fellow Patriots;
I may have come up with way to carry our protests through the Holidays and winter months, and have presented my idea to the members of my group, The American Patriot Council, Washington/Jefferson/Hancock Chapter, who have agreed to implement it.
As we approach the Christmas Season, with its long-standing and beloved traditions of gift-giving and the sending of greeting cards, I propose the following:
As many patriots as possible could send their Congresspersons and Senators (or even other members of those bodies) a Christmas card, preferably one of a religious nature; after all, it would be well-served to remind some of these members of the true, spiritual Nature of this most important holiday we celebrate.
In the spirit of the giving of gifts, I further propose that the aforementioned patriots either purchase, or download from the internet and print out, a copy of the United States Constitution, fold it as may be needed, and include it in the cards.
Accompanying this, a sincere--yet appropriately-worded, with decorum in mind--exhortation of some type, that the document should be read by the addressee, and, more importantly, abosrbed by same, employing whatever outside advisement and/or assistance in its understanding, as may be needed.
I propose this because, after all, in recent months we have seen strong evidence that many of them do not have, and perhaps, some even have not ever even seen, the United States Constitution.
We need to rectify this, and this is a good time to do it.
I mean, my friends, what would be the point in giving them something they already have? Nobody likes that. Clearly, they do not have copies of the Constitution!
In order to carry this off, we would need to contact as many like-minded groups and individuals as possible, to spread the word.
"Operation Congress Card" could start the first week of December, and continue through, until the week of Christmas.
I would suggest downloading and including as well, copies of the Federalist Papers.
These have been described as the "owner's manual" of the Constutution, as they explain, in plain language, much of its intricacies .
Personally, I would suggest simply downloading free copies of these documents, rather than purchasing professionally-printed copies. This, since I think it fairly obvious that they will likely be roundfiled upon opening, and such funds would then be wasted.
But that's okay; our message would still be conveyed to those bodies, and the appropriate impression, hopefully, made.
Does anyone agree with me on this? Would you care to get involved? Please let me know. Also, feel free to post this to your Facebook Wall, MySpace page, or to pass it around to other interested parties.
Thank you, God bless you, and have a Happy Thanksgiving.---Rob Denham, Chapter Coordinator, American Patriot Council, Washington(PA)/Jefferson(OH)/Hancock(WV) Chapter
