A place for me to pour out my rants without clogging the inboxes of my friends and family. Also a place to give info on myself and Mary, our family news and events.
It's sad, is what it is

A good friend of mine, an active duty soldier, came home for Christmas, bringing with him his wife and family. They’d driven cross-country, into the Weirton area from Washington State, where he is stationed at Fort Lewis.
During an evening visit, he and I were discussing the war. He is soon to be deployed to Afghanistan, having already served in Iraq. He confided to me that, to his thinking, at least, for every one person who supports the troops and what they’re doing, there is, at least, one other person who does not.
I disagreed, assuring him that what he was hearing in the media at large was untrue; that the anti-war crowd is noisy and boisterous, yes, but much smaller than they are being portrayed.

It’s an absolute crime that any member of the United States military should feel that a minimum of one half the population of their country does not support them. It’s a disgrace.
I hope and pray that my optimism is not misplaced; that the majority of Americans do indeed appreciate the position in which the nation presently finds itself, and the sacrifices made by its defenders, our courageous armed forces personnel.
Those of you who do understand....I ask you, please…. send cards, letters, packages, e-mails. Anything. Go online, or perhaps call a veterans or other military-related organization; find out how and where. Let them know you support them and their mission.
Let your representatives in Washington know, as well. These are dark times, and if we fail to support our military on to victory in their mission, I fear they will only get darker. God Bless our military; God Bless America.
