Rightwinger's Articles In US Domestic

Since the 1970s, an endless parade of government officials and candidates has campaigned on how we must act now, to get free of Middle East oil. Yet, here we are, forty years later, still tied to the oil fields of Saudi Arabia and others, and every time some angry Muslim (is there any other kind?) throws a rock, our gas prices jump. Why? We only get approximately 14% of our oil from the Mideast, anyway; the rest comes from domestic drilling, Canada and Mexico. Yet, it seems to be Arab oil...

When will enough be enough? When will someone in authority finally stand up and say “no more”? President Obama once again ignores constitutional strictures with his recent “recess appointments”, while the Senate was still in session. Bottom line, he simply said, “you’re in”, without bothering with the process of legal Senate confirmation. Where is the outrage in the House and Senate? That’s the Legislative Branch’s job. Of course,...

I don't really know what the nuclear disaster in Japan has to do with bringing us closer to global thermonuclear war, and I didn't see any specific mention of Iran. But gee...they must be happy to be using it again; that mean ol' Ronald Reagan kicked the whole thing out of vogue for a while, there, didn't he?

I was recently in a friendly--for the most part--discussion about gay marriage. Now, I really have no valid opinion on the subject, but I will say that I don't think galaxies are going to explode, if gays and lesbians are given the right to say "I do". After all, in the words of the great country music legend/drag queen icon Dolly Parton, "They should have to suffer, right along with the rest of us." And besides, I really don't think it's my place to ju...

The Democrats are whining, seemingly put out because angry people are contacting them, saying angry things about their corrupt, unconstitutional, power-grabbing healthcare takeover. Boo-hoo; they arrogantly dismissed the will of nearly 70% of the population, as measured by their own polls. Did they honestly expect there would be no unpleasant blowback from this? Now, disappointed at the subdued, relative unobtrusiveness of the Tea Partiers' protest that Sunday, they’re blatantly sme...

Below is a letter I wrote to the editor of my local paper, which ran yesterday. Mine is a very liberalism-dominated area, being a slowly dying steel town, decimated by rampant unionism and Democrat policies. I write a lot of LTEs, and must be having some kind of an effect, because I come under a lot of fire from liberal writers, who often get nasty with me. Kinda proud of that fact, though. There are often letters written in like this one, naming--often attacking--me specifica...

As I write this, there's about 8 inches of snow on the ground, today's high was 25 degrees, and a big snowstorm is expected this weekend, beginning tomorrow night. I'm just sayin'. There are five “O’s” in liberalism: (Willfully) Oblivious, (Deliberately) Obtuse, (Hysterical) Overreaction, (Ignoring the) Obvious, and (Unreasoning) Outrage. One of the greatest examples of this is the recent revelation of the hacking of e-mails, between US and British sc...

61% of Americans do not want the health care bill; Washington knows this, yet insists on ignoring its constituents. Are they insane? Maybe. Are they delusional? Perhaps. So, on a Sunday night-Monday morning, literally in the dead of night when few were watching, the Senate passed the health care bill. It's likely they, the Democrats, are committing political suicide over this, but they seem perfectly willing to do so; to implement a policy relatively few of their constituents ac...

What's the definition of irony? Let me help: 1.)  At Fort Hood, a US Army Major - of Islamic heritage - killed 13 people, wounding dozens more, shouting "God is Great!" in Arabic, as he fired. He attended a mosque associated with radical Muslims; he'd expressed great admiration for Muslim suicide bombers. He even tried contacting al-Qaeda. Apparently, his activities were flagged for months by authorities, but it seems no one wanted to risk being accused of bigotry. ...

Here's the story: "Giant iceberg spotted south of Australia SYDNEY (AFP) – A monster iceberg has been spotted drifting towards Australia in what scientists Wednesday called a once-in-a-century event. Australian glaciologist Neal Young pinpointed the slab, which is some 19 kilometres (12 miles) long, about 1,700 kilometres south of the country, using satellite imagery . He said he was not aware of such a large iceberg being found in the area since the days when 19th century...

I’ve often heard and read of the supposed “Neocon agenda”; that ultra-secret plan of all us “crazy religious right-wing, wing nut” conservatives, to yoke the rest of the nation to our old-fashioned, “out-dated” ways and ideas. Well, even if that were true, would it really be so very bad? After all, those values made America the strongest and most powerful nation on Earth, in much less than 200 years of her history. Are conservative ideal...

Friends and Fellow Patriots; I may have come up with way to carry our protests through the Holidays and winter months, and have presented my idea to the members of my group, The American Patriot Council, Washington/Jefferson/Hancock Chapter, who have agreed to implement it. As we approach the Christmas Season, with its long-standing and beloved traditions of gift-giving and the sending of greeting cards, I propose the following: As many patriots as possible could send their Congressper...

From AOL News: "(July 28) -- Anyone who listens to National Public Radio is used to hearing funding credits -- brief mentions of people whose donations make the broadcaster's programming possible. In the past few weeks, NPR began airing one that credits the estate of a Richard Leroy Walters, "whose life was enriched by NPR, and whose bequest seeks to encourage others to discover public radio." Robert Siegel, host of NPR's 'All Things Considered,' was curious about the donor, so he searched t...

July 4 th , on a local TV news report, a gentleman expressed mild amusement with the large gathering  of “Tea Party” goers (about 2,000 people) assembled on the grounds at Wheeling, WV’s Wesbanco Arena, there protesting, among other things, out-of-control government spending . He thought “it was funny, because how many of them (here today) cashed their stimulus checks?” Well, I can say, honestly and proudly, that I was there that day, and t...

President Obama’s choice of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to replace Justice David Souter is yet another attempt at pandering to a goodly swath of voters. Latinos are no doubt happy with his choice; I’m sure they’ll vote accordingly. Sotomayor , however, describes herself as “the perfect product of Affirmative Action; (I’m) an Affirmative Action baby . My test scores were not as high as some of my colleagues at Princeton and Yale…” ...
